Tell me, have you ever had moments in your business, when you feel your power slip away abit? Perhaps you’ve felt the boundaries blur, and ended up giving too much? Got stuck saying “yes”, when your whole body screamed “no”?

Maybe you have been in cycles of overgiving, feeling like you have to prove your worth, or be everything to everyone. Or perhaps you had to soften who you are, or put on a mask like professionalism, to feel like you could be relatable and successful?

Then one day, without really reasling it, you’re drained. Not because of what you did exactly, but because of how much energy you leaked in the process.

The Myth of Doing Too Much

Something I learned over many years was that burnout isn’t actually just an issue of ‘doing too much’…. it’s actually more an issue of ‘doing too much’ AND leaking energy from all the things I just mentioned.

The boundary creep… the overgiving… the need to prove yourself or solve every problem – that’s a drain you just don’t need. And that is why we want to talk about leading with energetic integrity.

So often in business you put everyone else’s needs before your own. It’s time to flip that on it’s head because you need to lead with energetic integrity.

Energetic Integrity

Energetic integrity isn’t some ‘woo woo’ concept, or moral code – it’s actually just alignment in motion.  It’s the congruence between who you are, what you say, what you believe and what you do.  When these elements aren’t in harmony, your power starts to fracture, your energy starts dripping through the cracks.  Often we end up in a cycle of overpromising, over-providing, under-receiving and resentment – disguised as service to others.

Let’s get real and raw for a minute…

For years I thought my exhaustion and burnout came from workload. And yes, I was busy, seeing 30-40 clients a week (sometimes even more).  But what really exhausted me was self-betrayal – literally putting myself too far last.  I suppose this isn’t just a ‘business’ issue, it’s also a mum issue, a wife issue and frankly a life issue. But for today, let’s stick to the business zone.

What do I mean by self-betrayal? It shows up in many ways, but here’s just a few that I experienced:

• providing more than my clients actually needed (like extensive treatment plans they didn’t read, or struggled to comprehend)
• ignoring self care and instead working a full client load on the Saturdays my kids were with their dad
• burning the candle at both ends, staying up way too late to do treatment plans, research and business admin

Where this come from wasn’t from a fear of being too much, or not enough. For me it came from a fear of financial insecurity. Starting up my business as a solo mum of two, with no money in the bank, I was TERRIFIED we’d end up homeless, unfed and on the streets. So in the early days I did too much, delivered too much and would hide it all under the emotional stamp of being “generous” and “supportive”. When the truth was, I was terrified of being in poverty.

Now, I’m not saying this is the same reason behind why you might be in an over-giving position right now, there can be so many reasons.  Though until you can see it, name it and unpack it, you’ll continue to operate in the same unhealthy patterns that continue to leak your energy.

The moment I started honouring myself and my boundaries, and treating what I did as a sacred service, everything changed.

• my boundaries became clean
• my clients became empowered.
  …..And I stepped into the person I was truly meant to be

Energetic Integrity = Freedom

People often mistake integrity for rigidity — but true energetic integrity is freedom. It’s knowing your yes means yes and your no means no, without guilt. It’s being so anchored in self-trust that you no longer outsource your power to validation or expectation.

This week, take inventory of your energetic agreements, your boundaries and what you provide to your clients.  Where are you leaking energy?  Where have you said yes from obligation instead of desire? Take the time to do an internal review and choose one area you’d like to clean up, tighten up or clarify – then do it, kindly, clearly and without guilt or apology.

Every leak you seal reclaims more power for creation, not compensation.
